OUR MISSION is to provide technology tools that will more efficiently and effectively engage the community with emergency management and with each other in preparation and response to emergencies and disasters.
Through the generosity of others, Emergency Response Network provides Citizens Corps, Community Initiatives, and others with the technology necessary to achieve their goal of engaging our communities.
The Emergency Response Network went live on June 1, 2007 with a national resource directory for any organization that wants to list their role, service, or resource for the public. Just a few months after Emergency Response Network was introduced, FEMA introduced the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which required Emergency Response Network to reassess the sector. We identified a growing effort to organize at the local level. This effort was led by the local office of emergency management, citizen corps, and a growing number of non-governmental community initiatives.
It was apparent emergency management was changing but little was being done to assist local Citizen Corps and local Community Initiatives. Emergency Response Network decided to introduce web-based technology for both local citizen corps and local community initiatives.
